New Intensive Mothering Article

October 23, 2025

Thrilled to share an article I authored for Parents Canada which discusses why moms should say “Hasta la vista, baby!” to Intensive Mothering.
Special thanks to Dr. Andrea O’Reilly for introducing me to this fascinating field of study and inspiring me to share it with mothers everywhere!!! Sincere gratitude also to Jane Bradley for our chance meeting and for this wonderful opportunity to work with your ‘Executive Editor Extraordinaire’ Katie Dupuis!

Board Appointment!

October 23, 2025

Founded in 2006, Demeter is an independent feminist press committed to publishing peer-reviewed scholarly work, fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction on mothering, reproduction, sexuality and family. The press is named in honour of the Goddess Demeter, herstory’s most celebrated empowered and outraged mother.
The Journal of the Motherhood Initiative for Research and Community Involvement is an integral part of community building for both researchers, academics and grassroots, and mothers interested in the topic of motherhood. The mandate of the Journal is to publish the most current, high quality scholarship on mothering-motherhood and to ensure that this scholarship considers motherhood in an international context and from a multitude of perspectives including differences of class, race, sexuality, age, ethnicity, ability and nationality.
When I started my graduate studies in Gender, Feminist, and Women’s Studies, it was my ultimate goal to one day contribute to and mobilize knowledge in this field. It is such an honour to begin to fulfill this dream.

Congress 2025 Presentation

October 23, 2025

Beyond elated to share the stage on June 3 at the Canadian Communication Association 2025 Conference in Toronto with:

Miranda J. Brady
Associate Professor

Lauren Kirshner
Assistant Professor
Toronto Metropolitan University

Liz Podnieks
Professor
Toronto Metropolitan University

Our panel explored the mediation and complexities of care, from motherwork to sex work. We examined how care work is valued and devalued, revealed and erased, commodified and provided freely—by whom, for whom, and at what cost.

I was in awe to be surrounded by such brilliance!
