Guest Speaker at Shifra’s Joyful Journey Afternoon Tea!

May 20, 2026

Delighted to share that in addition to attending the Joyful Journey Afternoon Tea in support of Shifra Homes — a safe haven for young pregnant women experiencing homelessness — and sponsoring a table for 10 SHIFRA MOMS, I have graciously and humbly accepted the invitation to speak for a few moments at this event about how to manifest a magnificent motherline. Thank you Marjorie Steele for this honour. I am looking forward to another spectacular (and delicious) Joyful Journey Afternoon Tea on Sunday, June 7.

Please join us and help support and empower these young women. Tickets are available at shifrahomes.com.

NEW COLUMN FOR MOTHER’S DAY!

April 15, 2026

My latest “The Thinking Parent” column for Parents Canada is near and dear to my heart. The great author and feminist Adrienne Rich reminds us, we all are “of woman born.” That said, Mother’s Day can be a complicated and often difficult occasion for many. “What is the Motherline? How to Find and Celebrate Yours” was written to bring hope, comfort, empowerment and joy to readers.

I’d love to hear what you think. Follow the link below to check it out. Happy reading! Happy Motherline Day to you all!

Launch of Revolutionizing Motherlines Including Chapter by Tina Powell

January 26, 2026

I am thrilled to bring together my two loves — Maternal Theory & Children’s Literature — in a chapter I wrote for Revolutionizing Motherlines.

Titled “Are You My Mother(line),” this chapter draws upon P. D. Eastman‘s classic children’s book. ‘Are You My Mother’ to explore the disrupted and destroyed motherlines of three foster daughters raised in Ontario‘s foster care system during the mid-20th century. Each chapter in this epic collection challenges, explores, and celebrates the wisdom, experiences, stories, and power of maternal lineage. Congratulations and sincere thanks to editors Fiona Joy Green, Victoria Bailey, and Andrea O’Reilly — and publisher Demeter Press!
